Join this Palmer oral history and personal story project, to help preserve the amazing past of its villages and residents. Brought to you by the Palmer Public Library, in collaboration with The Leo S. Walsh Foundation, Palmer Cultural Council, Mass Cultural Council, MPACT TV, Palmer Historical & Cultural Center, Palmer Historical Commission and the Elbow Plantation Historical Society. This project was funded in part by grants from The Leo S. Walsh Foundation and the Palmer Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
The goal of this project is to collect digital artifacts & diverse personal accounts of life and experiences in the villages of Palmer, from each generation. We are looking for at least 5 participants, born in each decade from 1910-2010.
Here’s how to be a part of tomorrow’s history… today!
- Gather up to 10 personal items that are specific to your life in Palmer and that you’d like to talk about during an interview. These can be just about anything, so be creative! Some suggestions of everyday topics, spanning the generations are clothing, Covid, culture, food, housing, industry, library, music, recreation, school, town event and weather. This list is just a starting point, to get you thinking about special and unique Palmer experiences to share.
- Decide if you would like to record on your own at home (scroll to the bottom of this page to view or download the At-Home Recording Kit) or request a time to record your interview at MPACT TV public access television studio.
- If you’d like to record in the studio, call the library at (413)283-3330, ext. 109, and ask for Helene or Amy. Or complete and submit the following form. We’ll schedule a brief pre-interview meeting where we review all the details, and schedule your MPACT TV appointment.
We’re looking forward to hearing your great Palmer stories and memories!
